Chad has an interesting post on Google’s new Google Sky data, the comments bring up an interesting question, if the data used is public and not locked by vendor agreements like the DG data, why doesn’t Google show they really aren’t evil and let others use the data too, heck even big bad Microsoft gives free access to USGS imagery through terraserver.
Well, for earth I can see them not doing that since they mash all the imagery up into one big ugly globe. If they layered the imagery, it would be easier.
Sky on the other hand, that is all public so they should be able to share that just fine.
But, I doubt they will.
