United States Aquifers Add-On for NASA WorldWind
”An aquifer is a geologic formation, group of formations, or part of a formation that contains sufficient saturated, permeable material to yield significant quantities of water to wells and springs.”– nationalatlas.gov.
This add-on shows Aquifers that supply ground water to the lower 48 States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Description
This Add-on was created with the ACID Add-on creator from cromsoft.org (Archive.org) using the aquifers shapefile at nationalatlas.gov (Archive.org), and displays the principal aquifers of the 48 Conterminous United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands (figure-1).

Installation
To install the Add-on click the following link Worldwind_1.3_US_Aquifers_1.0.exe and select save in your web browser. Once the download is complete double-click the icon (figure-2) on your desktop, or if you chose a different location to save the file navigate there, follow the on-screen prompts and when installation is complete run World Wind.

Next open the Layer Manager by clicking on the icon (figure-3) in World Wind’s toolbar.

Once the Layer Manager is open you will see several entries, click in the square next to the one which says US Aquifers, this will tick the box and turn on the layer (figure-4). Please be patient as this layer may take some time to fully load.

To turn on and off individual sub-layers and see aquifer names click the small triangle in Layer Manager next to US Aquifers, this will display a sub-menu showing a complete list of aquifers (figure-5). You can turn on and each aquifer by ticking or un-ticking the appropriate check boxes.
